Panalpina reports solid growth in revenues
Successfully manages impact by economic decline, currency fluctuations, and Nigeria<br><br> Panalpina, the global freight transport and logistics group, increased its net forwarding revenue in the first nine months of 2008 by 6.9% compared to the first nine months of 2007, currency adjusted even by 13.3%. In relation to the transport volume, Panalpina continued to gain additional market share both in the air freight as well as the ocean freight sector. Gross profit decreased by 3.4%, but currency adjusted increased by 2.3%. Net earnings of CHF 105.0 million (-33.9%) were impacted by the termination of the domestic service portfolio in Nigeria as well as the global economic decline and currency fluctuations.

Panalpina is pleased to announce the appointment of Sven Hoemmken as global Head of Supply Chain Management
The global forwarding and logistics group Panalpina has appointed Sven Hoemmken (44) as Head of its global Supply Chain Management sector, based at Group headquarters in Basel. He is to begin work in his new position on 1 December and will report directly to the Chief Marketing & Sales and Supply Chain Management Officer, Sandro Knecht.

Panalpina reports dynamic growth in the first half year
The company will withdraw its domestic services from Nigeria later this year<br><br> The global freight transport and logistics Group, Panalpina, increased its net forwarding revenue in the first six months 2008 compared to the first half year 2007 by 7.8%, currency adjusted even by 17.5%. In relation to the transport volume, Panalpina managed again to gain additional market share both in the air freight as well as the ocean freight sector. Gross profit was -3.9 % below, but currency adjusted 1.9 % above last year’s figure. Net earnings (CHF 76.7 million) were once again impacted by the situation in Nigeria. Panalpina intends to withdraw its domestic service portfolio from Nigeria, which is planned to be taken over by local investors.

The Annual General Meeting of Panalpina World Transport (Holding) Ltd., held on 6 May 2008, was well attended once again. The participating shareholders represented 47,79% of the share capital. All motions proposed by the Board of Directors were approved by a clear majority.

Panalpina reports organic growth in the first quarter
Strengthening of the Executive Board and management structures<br><br> The global freight transport and logistics Group, Panalpina, significantly increased its net forwarding revenue in the first quarter 2008 compared to the first quarter 2007 by 9.2%, currency adjusted even by 15.3%. The gross profit was with -2.2% slightly behind, however currency adjusted 3.1% above the previous year’s first quarter. With -39.7%, net earnings, impacted by the situation in Nigeria, were considerably below the first quarter 2007. In order to achieve an even more direct and customer-focused market approach, the Board of Directors has unanimously approved CEO Monika Ribar’s application to enhance the company’s management structures and to extend the Executive Board from five to seven functions.

Jürg Honegger, Chief Financial Officer of the global freight forwarding and logistics group Panalpina, has taken the decision to resign for personal reasons. Further persistent growth and strong profitability increase
The global freight transport and logistics group Panalpina continued its strong organic growth and again improved its profitability in the first nine months of 2007. Substantial new business wins in the major strategic key industries helped to further increase market shares in all areas. Gross profit grew by 16.4%, Ebit by 33.1% and net earnings by 33.3%.

Solvay awards Panalpina with additional air freight business
Panalpina, one of the world’s leading providers of transport and logistics services, has been awarded significant further business from its customer Solvay Chemicals. The new air freight services will be in addition to the 13 000 TEU ocean freight per year that Panalpina already transports for Solvay. Solvay operates in pharmaceuticals, chemicals and plastics and has 400 units in over 50 countries.

Anti-trust investigation in the forwarding industry
In connection with alleged concerted practices in the area of transportation services, on 10 October 2007 the Swiss Federal Competition Commission (Weko) conducted a search also of the premises of Panalpina in Basel. A similar investigation by US anti-trust authorities has been conducted in the company’s headquarters in the USA.

Panalpina suspends disputed services in Nigeria and confirms 2007 annual targets
Panalpina, one of the world’s leading suppliers of forwarding and logistic services, has suspended part of its service offering in Nigeria including its temporary importation services for oil and gas customers. The announcement is made today at Panalpina’s Investor Day in London. The suspension of these services and its potential impact on certain global agreements with oil and gas customers is expected to have an effect on the group’s Ebitda; for the current fiscal year this is estimated to be between CHF 20 to 30 million. Despite this impact, the Company has confirmed its positive outlook and financial guidance for 2007.

Panalpina and NYK reach agreement on a global cooperation
Panalpina and the NYK Group have agreed to cooperate both in Japan and internationally. The two companies can ideally support each other due to their complementary geographic networks and similar business models. According to the agreement, the NYK subsidiary Yusen Air & Sea Service (YAS) will become Panalpina’s agent in Japan whilst Panalpina will represent YAS’ interests in various countries in addition to its existing network.

Business year 2005: Successful IPO and further significant increase of results
Panalpina, the Swiss-based global transport and logistics group, reports strong results for 2005.
