Panalpina appoints new Regional CEO for North America

The global transport and logistics group Panalpina has nominated Karl Weyeneth as the new Regional CEO for its Noram business region. He will take office on 1 February 2007, succeeding Peter Merath, who will retire after more than 40 years with Panalpina.

Karl Weyeneth (42) has extensive logistics and managerial experience. In his former position as President & CEO Americas for Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Inc. since 2000 he was responsible for the company's entire North and South American operations. Prior to that, he
held a key management position with a leading global freight forwarding company. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Berne, Switzerland. In his new function at Panalpina he will be one of the six Regional CEOs reporting directly to the Group's President & CEO Monika Ribar.

Following up the positive development in Noram

Karl Weyeneth is the successor of Peter Merath, who will retire on 31 January 2007. Peter Merath’s impressive track record and career with Panalpina for well over 40 years has been recently reconfirmed when he was managing the restructuring in the US organization, which has been developing very positively throughout 2006. Its successful completion will be the foremost topic on Karl Weyeneth’s agenda for 2007.
